Helena will be a sophomore at the University of Iowa where she is working on a BA in Dance and an Arts Entrepreneurship Certificate. Over the past year, she has been privileged to be taught by Eleanor Goudie-Averill, Kristin Marrs, Armando Duarte, Charlotte Adams, Nicholas Leichter, and Eloy Barragan. She has studied Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap and Choreography. Before college, she trained with Kate Carol for twelve years where she was a full Company Member, and a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator. Helena also participated in the choreographic workshop Pre Professional Showcase. She attended Master Classes with Meg Gurin-Paul, Joffrey Ballet (Principal, Ballet Mistress) and visited Gus Giordano Dance in Chicago for classes. Upon High School graduation Helena received the Kate Carol & Company Dance Education Scholarship. She was selected to become a member of the University of Iowa Summer Repertory Group for 2015. Helena is currently receiving academic scholarships such as the UI Old Gold Scholarship and the UI Iowa Scholars Award, and will be receiving the Iowa Center For the Arts Scholarship For Dance in the fall.
